Loving Your Family

Do you 'think' love towards your family? 'Do' love? Or both? Most parents, sons and daughters would say, "both."

If you see yourself as the breadwinner for the family then more than likely you would say you, "both." Being the breadwinner might not necessarily mean you are 'doing love' towards your family. If you are smug when you come home from work, quick to respond with your children, not patient, then you probably struggle to love.

"If I give away all I have, and if I deliver up my body to burned, but have not love, I gain nothing. Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful."

-1st Corinthians 13:3-5

Think about the verse above, "If I give away all I have" [to my kids] , "But have not love, I gain nothing." It is possible to be the breadwinner but not love.

God does not just 'think' love towards me. He also 'does' love towards me. If God just said that He loves me ( 'think love'), then I would not be a Christian; but God sent ( 'do love') Jesus, his Son, to die, and resurrect from the dead so that, if I believe this, I can be in his family. God 'thinks' and 'does' love towards me.

Start small with your family. Maybe plan fun things with them. I am confident God will help you, because he thinks and does love towards you.
